Who Loves Holidays?!!

Ok- so we have all heard about and seen the "TACKY CHRISTMAS SWEATER"!  I mean, people literally host holiday parties around this theme now!

But do all holiday items that you wear have to be tacky and unfortunate?  I wanted to ask the question to some ladies with style and see who LOVES Holiday items to wear, who thinks they MIGHT wear holiday themed items IF they were not tacky, or who think that is ABSOLUTELY out of the question!

Facebook Poll is going on now!  If you want to vote, go to http://www.facebook.com/journeylockets and give us your opinion!  Results will be coming soon!

And this is on here because it cracked me up. :)

Starting This Journey

So I thought this would be a great way to start my blog by talking about how this journey began!

I have always had a love of photos.  I especially love taking photographs of kids.  I think it is wonderful to be able to freeze a moment in time and capture the memory of something we are experiencing.  As a busy parent, I find it is hard to really get to enjoy the actual moment a lot of the time.  We are always keeping an eye out for the many things we have to manage.  We also can only focus on 1 thing at a time, so we miss many of the little details.  Taking photos allows us to get back those details and ENJOY the memory over and over again!

That being said, I started Journey Lockets because it was something I LOVED.  This business did not begin with a "how can I make money" brainstorming session or some business plan that I drew up and planned out every detail.  Several years ago I saw a friend at Playschool wearing this really cool glass locket with her 2 children's photos in it.  (Her husband is an incredible photographer, so the photos were gorgeous!)  I had to have one for myself!  So I found out where she got it and ordered one for myself and my mother-in-law for Christmas.  As soon as I got it I immediately created a bunch of tiny square photos to wear in it.  I wore it all the time and loved it!  I got many compliments on it and people started saying "Why don't you make these necklaces and sell them along with your bags?" (I had been in business with my other line of fabric luggage and handbags, called jocelyn drye designs for 3 years.)  I said I wasn't sure.  Then so many people asked me to make them one, that I ordered enough to get them at wholesale pricing and decided they needed a name.  Then being a web and graphic designer, I thought of so many ways I could personalize these.  Thus, Journey Lockets was born!

Here is a photo of the first Journey Locket necklace I made back in 2008!
