It's Official!

I have been waiting a long time to write this post!  I am so glad the day is finally here. Today is the first day that the NEW Journey Lockets is open for business!

We (as in I) have had many changes going on at Journey Lockets over the past 9 months.  Here is a list of all the exciting changes:

  • As of October 1, 2011 we are officially operating as Journey Lockets, LLC.
  • We have a new logo and color scheme!
  • We have just launched our TWO brand new websites! Yep, 2!

    - Our brand overview website that gives you all information you need to know about Journey Lockets.
  • *www.shopjourneylockets.com- Our brand new online boutique website.  Here our retail and wholesale customers can place orders and have them shipped direct.

  • We have new packaging & a new booth design for our shows!
  • We have new pricing on several items, including the older style lockets, now called the Simple Glass Locket & Chains Line.  As silver prices have increased, so have our costs.  To put it in perspective, the cost of silver has tripled (and even quadrupled once) since I started Journey Lockets in 2008.  We have done our best to keep pricing as consistent as possible throughout this climb, but our pricing from now on will be based on market silver prices when my orders are placed. (See 2000-2011 historical graph from www.kitco.com)

  • We have new procedures for personalization.  We still allow you 2 FREE photo submissions with each locket purchase, but we have a new procedure for getting them to us.  Instead of emailing your photos, you will utilize our online boutique website and select the 2 Photo Custom Insert Option.  In your JL box, there will be a Photo Insert Gift Card, that will have detailed instructions and the coupon code that will be used at check-out.  The order will be track-able through your online JL account and you will be sent confirmations upon our receipt and shipment of the inserts.

So those are some of the major changes we have going on here at Journey Lockets.  We are gearing up for show season which starts in 23 days!  We open our season at A Shopping Spree in Raleigh, NC this year on the first weekend of November.

Please send us your feedback about the new changes via Facebook, Twitter, blog comments, or email.  We LOVE hearing from you!  Thanks everyone!

The Next Step in Our Journey

Well the day has finally come!  I am very excited to share my big news about Journey Lockets!

We have grown exponentially each of the four years since Journey Lockets began.  One of my personal goals to take my company to the next level, was to design my own line of Journey Lockets.  Well 2011 turned out to be the year to make this happen!

I am proud to introduce the Journey Lockets Signature Collection!

It is very exciting to be able to create your own designs, sketch them out on paper and have them turned into a physical form.  Here is a peak at the sketch that these lockets started from back in January of this year.  I am so very happy with the way that the finished product turned out and I cannot wait to have them to share!

Features of the 2011 Signature JL Locket:

The signature collection includes 2 new sizes of lockets.  Additional new features include: satin finishes, a clip feature on the bale and our new JL logo on the front of the locket!

-The JL Signature Locket Collection is available in our exclusive satin Sterling Silver and satin Gold Vermeil.  (Our Vermeil is 24K gold over Sterling Silver.)

-The lockets measure 1" square and 1" round and fits 1" square/round inserts.

-The new bale on the locket allows the locket to be clipped onto jewelry pieces.  The clip is located on the back of the bale, opposite the JL logo on the front.

----------------------------------------
The lockets are in production now and will ship in about 8 weeks, putting them here around mid-September.  I will be taking pre-orders on lockets at 30% off the full retail price for the next 8 weeks. You can place your pre-order online under JL Signature Lockets.

Your order will ship immediately after the lockets arrive!

Currently there are more designs in the works that will include our own custom designed jewelry to accompany the signature lockets and much more.  So stay tuned and follow us on our journey!

I am looking forward to seeing what is next!  Thank you to Josh, my wonderfully supportive husband who has been so encouraging and helpful since this began.  To Mom, for letting me bounce ideas off of you and helping with all of the shows over the years!  And to the rest of my family & friends who have encouraged me and supported me with purchases, many Facebook likes, and such kind words throughout the years.  And last but not least, thank you to all of my JL customers for your support and sharing your life's favorite moments with me!

I hope to hear from you soon!

Who Loves Holidays?!!

Ok- so we have all heard about and seen the "TACKY CHRISTMAS SWEATER"!  I mean, people literally host holiday parties around this theme now!

But do all holiday items that you wear have to be tacky and unfortunate?  I wanted to ask the question to some ladies with style and see who LOVES Holiday items to wear, who thinks they MIGHT wear holiday themed items IF they were not tacky, or who think that is ABSOLUTELY out of the question!

Facebook Poll is going on now!  If you want to vote, go to http://www.facebook.com/journeylockets and give us your opinion!  Results will be coming soon!

And this is on here because it cracked me up. :)

Starting This Journey

So I thought this would be a great way to start my blog by talking about how this journey began!

I have always had a love of photos.  I especially love taking photographs of kids.  I think it is wonderful to be able to freeze a moment in time and capture the memory of something we are experiencing.  As a busy parent, I find it is hard to really get to enjoy the actual moment a lot of the time.  We are always keeping an eye out for the many things we have to manage.  We also can only focus on 1 thing at a time, so we miss many of the little details.  Taking photos allows us to get back those details and ENJOY the memory over and over again!

That being said, I started Journey Lockets because it was something I LOVED.  This business did not begin with a "how can I make money" brainstorming session or some business plan that I drew up and planned out every detail.  Several years ago I saw a friend at Playschool wearing this really cool glass locket with her 2 children's photos in it.  (Her husband is an incredible photographer, so the photos were gorgeous!)  I had to have one for myself!  So I found out where she got it and ordered one for myself and my mother-in-law for Christmas.  As soon as I got it I immediately created a bunch of tiny square photos to wear in it.  I wore it all the time and loved it!  I got many compliments on it and people started saying "Why don't you make these necklaces and sell them along with your bags?" (I had been in business with my other line of fabric luggage and handbags, called jocelyn drye designs for 3 years.)  I said I wasn't sure.  Then so many people asked me to make them one, that I ordered enough to get them at wholesale pricing and decided they needed a name.  Then being a web and graphic designer, I thought of so many ways I could personalize these.  Thus, Journey Lockets was born!

Here is a photo of the first Journey Locket necklace I made back in 2008!
